My Communications Course Experience: Week 14

Well, I'll start off by saying before I got to my class, I thought my communications professor would be a total Nazi. Thank goodness the wasn't the case! He worked with me because yes, I am a slow learner. Sorry. Before I came into this class I knew absolutely nothing about technology. I'm an old soul, I have to admit. So, iMovie wasn't exactly my forté. But now, I can finally say that I know how to put two videos into one, which is a major accomplishment for someone like me.
From editing videos, to sound clips, things just got easier for me overall. Being a journalism major I figured it would be extremely important for me to know more about technology and editing. Especially considering how I can't afford my own tech crew just yet(:. I'm relieved and complacent with knowing that I can work programs such as Soundcloud, Spreecast, and iMovie. Thanks Prof. Bogandoff! Not so much for challenging my love and appreciation for Michael Jackson but for everything else…thanks. Thanks a lot.

The Famous Fedora: Up For Sale?! (Week 11)

Apparently Michael Jackson's renowned fedora is being put up for sale. This extremely valuable item is not the first of his belongings to be involuntarily put on the market. In my opinion, such precious memorabilia should be under the family's possession. This is no item that should just be hung up on any stranger's shelf who is able to afford it. With that fedora comes great memories, and I believe that it symbolizes one of Michael Jackson's greatest accomplishments. This fedora is from Michael's "Billie Jean" performance in 1983. When he performed, the TV special was watched by 450 million viewers. And now, anyone who has almost $5,000 can own this. His "pal" David Gest decided to put it up for sale after Michael Jackson's death, clearly without any consent. What do you all think about this? Should the Jackson family fight for the most famous fedora of all time?

Kanye West Rant on Michael Jackson! (Week 10)

Let's not jump to conclusions here. I am also a big Kanye fan. Kanye is also a huge fan of Michael Jackson, so this rant was not directed towards Michael, but it was directed towards the pressure people put on Kanye to be like Michael. And recently, Kanye was said to have ranted about Michael Jackson at one of his shows. As most of us know, Kanye West is extremely infamous for having no filter when he rants about something. He says, "They say they don't agree with the way I do my interviews. They don't agree with my self-confidence. They said, 'Michael Jackson wouldn't do that.' I said, I aint Michael Jackson motherf***ker!" Well, that's Kanye for ya! No artist could ever compare to Michael Jackson, Kanye shouldn't be pressured to mimic anything he does. I can understand how he could become so frustrated. What do you guys think? Leave comments below!

THIS IS IT AD

This is a Michael Jackson advertisement for his movie This Is It. This movie is basically documenting Michael's rehearsals and interviews for his This Is It Tour. This ad is extremely eye-catching and it definitely got me excited to see the movie!

Corey Feldman says: Michael Jackson Was Involved In His Own Death

Rumors are just now starting to resurface about the death of the King of Music, Michael Jackson. What reignited these assumptions was Michael's good friend, Corey Feldman. Corey Feldman made an appearance on "Good Morning America" stating his conclusion about Michael Jackson's death. When asked about it, Feldman responded, "I think Michael was much more involved with it (his death) himself and I don't mean an accidental drug overdose. This is it, that's all I'm going to say, this is it."

Cory as saying how he feels as though Michael Jackson strategically titled his final tour "This Is It," to portray a personal message to the public. He was surprised that not too many people were able to identify that. "This is it, this is it, this is it," Feldman said. He strongly believed that Michael Jackson somewhat committed suicide, and that society should have seen it coming. Feldman, previously having an alcohol and drug addiction since the age of fourteen, said that that is what being a child star succumbs to.

He explained how Jackson has never done drugs, but being a child star leads you into a very dark place. He also states, "The thing that I think is wrong is putting children on a pedestal, making them stars, treating them like they are some powerful source. That is where it gets iffy." Feldman connects Michael Jackson being a child star to his own death, or suicide, in Feldman's case.

As of right now, Feldman's theory is solely based off of an assumption, sparking controversy and igniting rumors for the media and the public to feed off of. People have been searching for a legitimate reason to Michael Jackson's death ever since the melancholy day that he passed away.

When referring to Michael Jackson's drug use, Corey Feldman says that the industry wanted to publicize that and make him seem like he is something he is not just for a story that sells. He says the industry, (along with the media) is out to destroy child star's reputation in order to keep industry secrets. "People wanted to make sure our reputations were flawed. That way, when we were old enough, wise enough, mature enough; we would be silenced before the truth came out."

Michael Jackson Podcast (Week 9)

Below is a podcast from Salaam Remi about Michael Jackson that I found to be interesting. I enjoyed listening to his feedback on Michael Jackson's Off The Wall album and how it broke barriers for music today. Remi gets into how Michael Jackson's music was created so precisely and carefully and always ended up turning out great because Michael would always have a great team working with him. I hope you all enjoy. Thanks Remi!

Katherine and the Jackson Children Sue AEG Live (Week 8)

Katherine Jackson is suing AEG Live for no small amount of money on behalf of the Jackson children. Katherine has blamed AEG Live for the death of her son Michael, and is suing them for 40 billion dollars. AEG Live is the entertainment company that hired Dr. Conrad Murray to be Michael Jackson's caretaker. And as most of us all know, Murray was held responsible for Michael Jackson's death in the court of law. AEG is extremely upset, calling the lawsuit unfair. An AEG representative even says, “the $40 billion is preposterous because Michael’s career was in a downward spiral following the child molestation allegations, as well as self-imposed exile in the Middle East. The damage claim is based on rank speculation.” In my opinion, that is simply an excuse. If the King of Pop's career was supposedly over, then why did this major company invest so much money into his "This Is It" tour? What do you guys think?

Healing The World One Record at a Time (Week 7)

When it comes to being a generous, warm-hearted, genuine, and pure spirit: Michael Jackson takes the cake. Oprah second. A lot of times people focus on the negative and look past all of the positive things that Michael Jackson has done. He has helped so many unfortunate people from smaller communities, and expanding throughout the whole world. Michael was always looking to help other people who had it worse than him. Michael Jackson's charity list runs longer than the Great Wall of China! (Probably.) I know we all love "We All The World," the hit single that he wrote with Lionel Richie and recorded with an all-star cast in order to raise money for Africa. He was always sending great messages through his music in order to make a difference, and he certainly did. Not to mention, The Millennium Issue of the Guinness Book Of Records gave Michael Jackson the title of “Pop Star who supports the most charity organizations.” Isn't he just the greatest?

Features on Features! (Week 6)

Paul McCartney. Slash. Diana Ross. Even his sister, Janet Jackson. Yes: I'm talking about FEATURES. Does anyone have a favorite? We all know I don't! That's like picking a favorite child, just about impossible. Although, I must say..."Say Say Say" and "The Girl is Mine" always gives me the chills! That"s TWO legends in two songs!!! Their two music styles and unique talents sound so perfect together! Not to mention the music video for "Say Say Say" starring Michael Jackson's very own younger sister, La Toya Jackson. The video was extremely exciting to watch! I'd know, I've seen it remotely a million times. So, tell me...if you have one, what's your favorite?

DEATH TO TABLOIDS

You've all heard "Leave Me Alone" haven't you? I'm sure we can all come to the conclusion that the tabloids are extremely parasitic. They like to take stories, over exaggerate, and LIE about things in order to distort people's views for a quick and measly dollar. Everyone knows how much trouble Michael Jackson has had with the media's lies. He takes their lies to heart. How would you feel if hordes of people looked at you as a monster, knowing you were innocent? I for one have absolutely no respect for tabloids. If you don't have enough skill to relay stories to the public truthfully, then you have no talent at all. What do you all think about the numerous lies that were told about Michael Jackson?

Michael Jackson: Fashion Icon

So, how many red jackets with a million zippers have you seen since Michael Jackson wore it in his famous "Thriller" video? I'll wait. Many people fail to realize the major impact that Michael Jackson has had on the fashion industry. His very unique and distinct personal style is often imitated, but I'm sure we can all agree that it can never be duplicated. He has several signature looks that he is known for. From embellished attire, to the sequined gloves and socks, it is safe to say that Michael has made his mark in the fashion industry. What's your favorite MJ look? Comment below!

Michael/Joe Jackson's Controversial Relationship (Week 5)

As most of us know, the relationship between Michael Jackson and his father Joe Jackson is definitely not the closest. Michael has become more and more open about the abusive relationship, telling his fans how he used to be beaten if he failed to succeed in his father's eyes. What does Joe have to say about this? For some reason, he's proud of his wrongdoings. He tell's CNN's Kate McClaughlin, "I'm glad I was tough, because look what I came out with. I came out with some kids that everybody loved all over the world. And they treated everybody right." Joe doesn't realize the permanent damage that he's done to Michael Jackson's life. Many believe this is why he grew up to become a "troubled adult." Michael Jackson was childlike, not childish. He cherished the innocence and freedom of children at an age later than most, because he was not able to do so during his own childhood. Some people believe what Joe has done to Michael and his brother's is acceptable. Others, (including myself, obviously) agree that Joe should feel remorse and suffer some type of repercussions even to this day. What do you think? Comment below!

So, raise your hand if you all think that I could talk about Michael Jackson all day long if I wanted to? OKAY that's just about everyone, solid. HOWEVER: Today I feel as though one of his precious seeds should be discussed. You all know and love her. Yes! It's Paris Jackson. I for one am completely interested in this beautiful soul because I see SO many similarities between their characters. Back when I had a twitter, I followed Paris and all I can say is obsessed! She is such a free-spirited individual with so many morals that her father clearly passed down to her. She doesn't care what anyone thinks of her! She even previously had long, beautiful hair, and then she chopped it all off for a mullet she thought would look cool. She has a very spunky style that basically says "I don't care what you have to think about me." Even from her tweets you could tell she is extremely mature for the age of 15. It's safe to say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

Sigh. Well guys, the iPhone 5s is finally out. The iPhone 5 (which was JUST recently released) is now a thing of the past. Personally, I don't see what the big deal is about. Apple is constantly coming out with new phones every 5 minutes it seems, with only one to a few new changes. My question is, what's the point of all this?
As soon as Apple drops a new product, people jump right up and camp outside of the stores. And the lines are usually as long as the Wall of China. Quite frankly, I would be content with the iPhone 4s. All I need is some sort of device to blast "Thriller" on!
All of the hype doesn't interest me. Unlike many people, I don't follow all the the latest iPhone trends. My iTunes is full of Michael Jackson songs. From "Wanna Be Where You Are" to "Butterflies." Truthfully, that's all that matters to me.
I do appreciate Apple for the iTunes program, because I get to keep all of my great music. It can easily be transported to any Apple device which is indeed, amazing.
I do know one thing though, Apple's iPhone 5s can be easily compared to Michael Jackson. Both are always at the top of their game! Like I always say, just check the stats!

For many Michael Jackson fans, it's easy to remember the moment you first fell in love with his work. Luckily, I'm one of those fans. The first tim I laid eyes on him and saw his art, I couldn't help but admire everything about him! My first exposure to Michael Jackson was a tape my uncle showed me of Captain EO. The sight was beautiful and mesmerizing. All of the colors and imagination being portrayed onto the T.V. screen was unbelievable to me at such a young age. My uncle even got me my own Captain EO T-shirt! Ever since then, I've been infatuated with him. I had a friend named Jasmine who was lucky enough to coincidentally meet Michael Jackson at a hotel she went to for a beauty pageant; he just so happened to be staying there. She told me all about how nice he was and how intrigued she was with him too. To me , she was the luckiest person alive! Not many people get to meet someone like Michael Jackson. I became so interested in him that I would wear Michael Jackson apparel quite often as a child and teenager. My father even bought me three Michael Jackson pins that I would wear every single day. My love for Michael had to be known! I even got the privilege of seeing his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with my sister. That was one of the greatest experiences I've EVER had. I even have a massive poster hanging above my bed in my dorm room. I want people to see how much I adore Michael! One of my favorite pictures of Michael is him standing in front of the microphone in the studio doing one of the things he does best! Recording impeccable music for everyone to gain great vibes from it. Sadly, a lot of imbecilic, biased, and narrow-minded individuals like to look past all of the positive that Michael has brought to us because of false allegations that he was accused of. Thankfully, us true Michael Jackson fans supported him throughout this rough time. Posters were raised in the air outside of the courthouse! WE KNEW THE TRUTH. Nothing could make us stop loving Michael. And we all know disgusting people in this world will do just about anything to make money off of people who have such an abundance of it, even the good-hearted people: like Michael Jackson. The picture of Michael Jackson above with Macaulay Culkin and Woody Allen smothered in pie portrays Michael's childlike nature. On the set of the Black and White video, Michael decided to play a prank on one of the directors by having a pie fight! What a playful spirit. Many people weren't used to such an innocent individual, and couldn't handle it. So when the allegations came about people loved to feed into the lies that were being told. When it was too late, the truth came out. Michael Jackson had passed away and the accusers finally told the truth about the entire scam. The funeral was aired on many channels and it was simply beautiful. His daughter Paris even gave a speech about her father, and it moved the entire crowd. I couldn't help but cry! Even though Michael Jackson is no longer physically with us, his legend still continues to live on! LONG LIVE THE KING.

Favorite MJ Album?!

Thriller? Dangerous? Bad? Off the Wall? Which is your favorite? You could probably assume my favorite Michael Jackson album from, well, my entire blog. You guessed it right, ALL OF THEM. Not only am I so indecisive, but I seriously cannot favor one over the other! HOWEVER, I know many of you do have a preference. Well don't just sit there, comment below and TELL ME ABOUT IT. And please explain your reasoning. A Michael Jackson enthusiast like myself is utterly confused as to why one would be better than the other. Michael Jackson could never go wrong, especially musically. That's all for today! And remember: Peace, love, and MICHAEL JACKSON.

King of Pop? Or King of Music?

Now I'm almost 100% sure you readers know which title I think suits Michael Jackson more! HOWEVER, it IS a contradictory subject. Why is beyond me. Yes, I know Michael Jackson wasn't the best yodeler in town (only because he's never tried), but the wide variety of musical genres that he has mastered over several years is UNFATHOMABLE. His accomplishments were too great for him to be subjected to just one measly genre! JUST CHECK THE STATS. He's done the most for his time. Without Michael, we wouldn't love some of our favorite artists as much as we do today. I.e. Justin Timberlake, Usher, and again, Justin Freaking Timberlake. Need I say more?
